Welcome to my first post. I figured I would start out by introducing you to my daughter, Domino. You probably think this is a strange thing to include on a design blog. However, since she was born she has inspired me to take photography more seriously in order to document her childhood… which currently seems to be flying by!

Disclaimer: I am by no means a professional photographer, nor do I offer my skills to clients as such. I am working with a six year old Konicka Minolta DiMAGE A200 “SLR type” camera and the lens, while it’s range is pretty impressive, isn’t removable leaving me rather limited. However, when you don’t have a $1000/ $2000 to spend on a new camera, you have to make the most of what you’ve got right?

So I went back to basics and starting reading through my manual for the camera as well as purchasing the kindle version (no I don’t have an kindle either, but I do have the kindle reader software installed on my computer) of Mamarazzi, which I’m still only halfway through. But both of these resources have taught me quite a bit about my camera. Things that I never really bothered to learn when I first received it.

As I said before, I do not consider myself anywhere near professional in this area. But I do believe this is an instance where my hobby can benefit my business greatly. Not only am I able to take better pictures of my products for online store purchases. But the photo editing skills I have learned in photoshop will also greatly benefit my clients. Through online blogs and tutorials, I have advanced my skin editing techniques and well as my knowledge of actions and photo filters. As with anything, I will be forever educating myself in this area. But even in a small amount of time I have seen a huge improvement in my images using these new techniques.

Do you have a favorite place online for tutorials? Or are you a photographer that wants to let me know whats up? I’d love to hear from you!
